What a whirlwind month we experienced in June! We started in-person services on June 7, and wouldn't you know it, I had a kidney stone our first week back!
We managed to get an incredible amount of work done in a very short period of time as we built and installed a temporary live-streaming gig for in-person services. We now have a much better streaming camera (we installed it this week) and we are looking forward to using it to better enhance the streaming experience for those who are streaming from home.
In other news, we want to keep you updated on things that are happening here at Kettering Church, so here are a few things we are working on ...
We know that our families are missing KidCo on Sunday mornings, and we want you to know that we are working hard to make sure our kids and families know how important they are to us. So, here is what we are doing on Sunday mornings ...
Each week, we have a time built into our gathering to watch a short video, review our Big Idea and work on our memory verse together.
Each week, we provide crayons and activity sheets for the kids. There are different sheets for kids ages 3-6 and 7-12, and they have lots of fun activities. There are also coloring sheets provided. Stop by the table in the lobby to get one. Used clipboards are sanitized each week, and crayons are disposable so feel to take them with you.
KidCo Check-In Beta Testing
Please watch this video to see how you can help us beta-test our new Kids Check-In system. Even though we aren't having KidCo right now, we are hoping to have some families help us test the hardware and software. Thanks in advance for your help!!!
We are working hard to make sure we are receiving and distributing prayer requests each week, but in this time of "paperless" church, we are having to make some adjustments. To help us make sure that we are getting prayer requests and that these requests make it to our prayer team, please help us out by using our app or website to submit requests. We have a process that automatically sends the requests where they need to go, and this helps us make sure that requests are being prayed over as much as possible.
To submit a request on our website, click on "Sundays At Home" and then "Prayer Request".
To submit a request in our app, tap the "Prayer Request" link on the home page.
Prayer requests will be made available on a private page on our website soon, and we will have more information in a future update.
Finally, I want to send a few loud shouts for some people who have been working really hard behind the scenes these past few months ...
Our Elder Council: Bethany Schultz, Mike Murray, Rodney Wells, and Mike Bodag
They have had to make some quick decisions about some tough issues, and they have done a lot of work in an around the church to help us get ready for in-person services.
Dave Brandenburg, Matt Botts and Rodney Wells
These guys have worked hard to remodel our annex bathroom, repair gutters, replace a storm door and repair HVAC equipment.
This hard working woman has put in many hours weeding beds and updating the main bed near the entrance doors including the memorial stones near the cross.
With our new live-streaming set-up, sound and media has taken on a new level of responsibility each week. Mike has given many extra hours recruiting and training volunteers, learning about our new systems and coming in early to prep for weekly gatherings.
I know there are many other people who have given extra time and energy in these unprecedented times, and to each of you let me say, I am thankful.
I think that's all for now. We will continue to update you as we move forward in this crazy year that 2020 has turned out to be.
