Weekend Update - May 15

Kettering Church Family,

It seems hard to fathom that we have now gone two months without meeting in person. I don't know about you, but I am anxious for the time when we be able to resume our in-person gatherings at the church.

Before I say too much more about that, let me update you a bit on Dawn's current condition. As of today, Dawn has gone 24 hours without pain medication! She is still on maintenance medications related to the aneurysm, but we are very thankful, and we are hoping that this points to a big step in her recovery. She is still very tired, and she continues to have some vision problems, but we are praising God for her progress thus far. We have taken a few short trips out, and she has done well. Continue to pray for her recovery, but join us in celebrating this miracle and praising God for his healing touch!

Giving Update

Now, a short giving update. We weren't sure what to expect in regard to giving in light of the current circumstances. Since we receive about 45% of our giving in person, we spent quite a bit of time preparing for a giving shortfall. While we have seen a drop in giving, it is not as significant as we thought it might be. So far, our operating giving through April of this year is $38,941.53. Our budgeted giving for this time period is $43,600. So, we are roughly $4,700 short for the year. While this represents about a 10% shortfall, we are getting by financially as we have cut costs, and we were approved for a Paycheck Protection Loan which will help with our payroll costs for May and June.

To each of you who faithfully give as you are able, we thank you. We simply couldn't continue to function without your faithful, financial support. So, please continue to give as you are able, and know that God will continue to provide for his people individually, and for his Church as a whole.

Gatherings Update

As of now, we are not prepared to set a date for our next in-person gathering. We continue to monitor suggestions and guidance from local, state and federal government, and we are taking steps now to prepare for our next in-person gathering. We know that you have many questions, and we wish we could answer all of them now, but we ask for your continued patience as we plan for a safe, healthy, in-person experience for everyone who calls Kettering Church home.

Here are some ways you can help us prepare for in-person gatherings ...

  • Our grounds need some serious attention! We need help with weeding the flower beds, spraying weeds along the walks and parking lot, and trimming some bushes. We will also need some mulch at some point, but beds needs some attention first. If you are able to help with any of these needs, please let us know using the comments section below.
  • We may need masks, thermometers and disinfecting wipes when we initially begin meeting in person. If you are able to help us secure any of these items, please let us know using the comments section below.

Zoom With Pastor Brian
While we are unable to meet in person, we are trying to bring together other options for keeping in touch. One of these options is Zoom with Pastor Brian, offered on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm. There is no real agenda. This is simply a time to catch up, ask questions and stay connected. If you would like to join a meeting, follow this link to sign up!

Other online options are being considered, so stay tuned for more!

Kids and Youth Online

Our kids ministry and our youth ministry are hosting online sessions on Sundays. If you are interesting in knowing more about this, please shoot us an email, and we will contact you with the information you need.

Much more information will be coming in the near future, so stay tuned. Remember, while we aren't "doing" church the way we always have, we are still the church!!!  Hope to "see" you Sunday morning at 11:00 am for our livestream!!!

Pastor Brian

We still have some lawn care equipment the church could have, a weed trimmer and I think also hedge trimmers, both battery powered. I could come help pull some weeds.

Paula, I think we have lawn equipment covered, but the weed pulling would be great. Looks like rain for most of the week, but feel free to come at your convenience and work on any of the beds. there are lots of weeds to pull. Thanks!!!

The kids and I can spend some time working on weeding and other outdoor work through the week.

Brian Newell - May 18th, 2020 at 5:54pm

Matt, any help is much appreciated. Looks like rain all week, but feel to come at your convenience and weed away! Thanks!
